Co Antrim Asian street food takeaway make bid for Banbridge expansion

A new hotfood takeaway – with a strong reputation in Co Antrim – could be making its way to Banbridge high street, if plans are approved.

A change of use application has been lodged with Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council in the name of Mr Calvin Lin, of Koko Asian Street Food.

Currently Koko Asian Street Food operates from a single premises in Newtownabbey.

Their website says they offer a wide range of authentic oriental cuisine, as an “authentic low in fat Taste of Asia”.

It relates to a former retail unit on the Newry Road located at the existing Vivo Xtra filling station.

It will be directly nextdoor to the Friary Chip Shop, just off the forecourt.

Proposals prepared by GLO Design suggests there will be no “demonstrable harm” caused by the development if approved.

Its adds that an accompanying “sequential test report” demonstrates that there are no “sequentially preferable sites available for the proposal”, which should be afforded significant weight in the determination of this proposal.

There will also be no change to the current parking provision for a total of 72 cars across the forecourt for the filling station, convenience store and accompanying hot food units.
