Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a security alert in the Church Street area of Dromore on Thursday July 24.
Detective Inspector Keon said: “At approximately 9.30am, police received a report of a suspicious object in the area.
“Ammunition Technical Officers attended along with crews and remain at the scene.
“Cordons remain in place at this time.
“However, I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or to anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with the investigation to contact detectives.
“At this time, we continue to work to establish a motive for this and are exploring a number of potential motivating factors.”
It is understood that Barry’s Veterinary Clinic were forced to evacuate their premises and cancel all further appointments for the day.
Local Councillor for the Dromore and Lagan River DEA, Paul Rankin said: “I have been liaising with the Police and am advised that this is a similar incident as previous, involving a local business on Church Street near the Old Railway Station.
“Hopefully this is not a viable device, but it is obviously intended to be intimidatory.
“I also spoke with the local nursery school Manager and everyone is safe and I am trying to ensure that Police communicate with them throughout the day to provide advice for all concerned.
“The police advise me that the nursery school children may be moved to Dromore Community Centre and this will be communicated to parents by the nursery.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 331 24/07/25.
