Boy (16) among three to appear in court following armed robbery at filling station

A 16-year-old boy is one of three people who will appear in court today (Friday) following an armed robbery of a filling station in Banbridge on Wednesday.

Detectives investigating the incident at premises on the Scarva Road, have also charged a 31-year-old man and 39-year-old man with a number of offences including robbery.

The 16-year-old will appear before Banbridge Youth Court on Friday, April 21.

The 31 and 39-year-old men will also appear before Banbridge Magistrates’ Court today, Friday April 21st at 10am.

As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Speaking on Thursday, Detective Sergeant Stewart said: “Two staff members, whilst physically unharmed, were left shaken by what was obviously a terrifying experience for them.

“Our investigation is now underway and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information, mobile phone, CCTV or dash-cam footage that can help with enquiries – to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 2094 of 19/04/23.”
