A police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in a house in the Ballygowan Park area of Banbridge this afternoon.
“A post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.”
The body had been discovered at around 2.40pm.
DUP councillor Carla Lockhart told the Newsletter there was a huge police presence in the area.
She said: “It is obviously alarming for people to see such a heavy police presence in a residential area.
“I have spoken to the PSNI and they indicate that investigations are ongoing and officers will remain in the area until they have completed this process.”
