Attempted theft of ATM in county Armagh

Police are appealing for information following the report of the attempted theft of an ATM machine at premises in the Dobbin Road area of Portadown in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, 23 October.

Commenting on the incident detective Chief Inspector Stephen Wright said: “Shortly before 3.30am this morning Police received a report that a digger was on fire outside premises in the Dobbin Road area of Portadown. On arrival of Police it was established that this digger had been used in an attempt to steal an ATM machine.

“On being unsuccessful in their attempt to steal the ATM machine, the driver of the digger then set it alight and entered a white van containing two other males and left the scene.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have seen this digger, which is believed to have been stolen from a building site in the Killyman Street area of Moy on Wednesday, 22 October, to contact Police at Craigavon on the non emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
