Armagh camogie team have done their county proud, clinching the Premier Junior All-Ireland Championship title after a hard-fought game against Cavan at Croke Park on Sunday.
The camogs celebrated a historic day at headquarters , raising the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior trophy after their 0-17 to 0-15 victory over the Breffni county.
It was a tense and closely contested final, but the Armagh side showed tremendous determination to hold off a spirited Cavan challenge.
The victory was particularly special after a number of previous final defeats – making it their first final win since 2020. And it puts to bed those lost four finals at Croke Park in recent years.
The troupe held strong throughout and kept their composure right up until the sound of the hooter! And, their steadiness won out resulting in a hugely significant moment for the players, management and supporters.
To recognise the momentous achievement, the new champions were welcomed back to Basil Sheils Bar and Restaurant in Tassagh where the establishment laid on live music from Two Degrees and a full homecoming party to celebrate!
Following Antrim Camogs’ success in taking the All-Ireland Intermediate trophy, First Minsiter Michelle O’Neill congratulated both teams, branding them “Ulster’s double All-Ireland camogie champions!”
She added: “Comhghairdeas to the incredible ladies of Antrim and Armagh on their All-Ireland victories at Croke Park today!
“It’s fantastic to see camogie in Ulster continuing to grow from strength to strength.
“Today’s success is testament to the talent and hard work that has gone into developing the game over many years.
