A popular Armagh restaurant had its window smashed by vandals at some point over the weekend.
Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at The Spice Lounge on Lower English Street sometime on Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday morning.
DUP councillor Scott Armstrong has condemned the wanton vandalism.
“Armagh City is a wonderful place for businesses to operate and as an elected representative of Armagh, I am very proud of the businesses we have within our town,” he said.
“On Friday evening/Saturday morning, one of our own businesses, The Spice Lounge, was randomly vandalised, with its windows smashed.
“The Spice Lounge is a very popular establishment within the town. During a time of rising costs for local businesses – particularly in the restaurant industry – this act of vandalism needs to be condemned by everyone.”
Councillor Armstrong spoke with police inspector Moffett about the incident.
He continued: “The PSNI have assured me that this will continue to be investigated. However, they are appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist with their investigation, so I implore anybody with any information to please contact the PSNI.
“I have spoken with the owner, Alam, and assured him of my support – and the support of the people of Armagh. Credit to Alam and his team for continuing to operate despite the vandalism.”
