Watch: Dramatic drone footage depicts Storm Éoywn’s devastating effect on Gosford Forest Park

Three days on from the devastating effects of Storm Éoywn, county Armagh is still struggling to return to normal.

In that time Armagh I have received hundred of reader-submitted photos and video depicting the chaos.

But none quite show the catastrophe better than drone footage of Gosford Forest Park, captured by Richhill man, Jason Black.

Jason’s video, shot on Sunday, January 26, provides a bird’s eye glimpse into the extent of the storm-caused deforestation at the beloved beauty spot on the outskirts of Markethill.

Hundreds of trees have been uprooted in the council owned park, by wind speeds which reached up to 102 mph in places, leaving some 283,000 homes without power across Northern Ireland.

Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, yesterday issued an update to say that all outdoor leisure and recreation facilities including forest parks, golf courses, parks and play parks will remain closed until site inspections are undertaken.

Facility updates are available here.
