Tynan man to contest charges of stalking and harassing female

A County Armagh man is to contest charges relating to an alleged campaign of stalking and harassment of a woman over a four month period.

John Richardson, from Derryhaw Road, Tynan is accused of engaging in conduct amounting to stalking of the complainant, causing her to suffer, alarm or substantial distress.

It is further alleged the 47-year-old pursued a course of conduct amounting to harassment.

Offending is alleged to have occurred on dates between August 15 and December 7, 2024.

No details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged offending were disclosed during the short hearing at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court where a defence barrister entered not guilty pleas to both charges on Richardson’s behalf.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan remanded him on continuing bail of £500 along with conditions including a ban on entering Portdawn with the exception of travelling along Northway.

Richardson is also excluded from entering all DV8 stores and must not contact the complainant and a number of other persons.

The case will return to court on 28 May when a date will be fixed for a contest to be heard.
