Two paw-fect pups with Armagh links named as Nose of Tralee finalists

The search for Ireland’s most beloved pet has reached a major milestone – the final 32 pets have now been chosen for the 2025 Nose of Tralee competition – and this year there are two with Armagh links!

From over 1,550 entries, one pet from each of the 32 counties has been selected to represent their county in this heart-warming national contest.

And, representing County Armagh is the beautiful Binx!

Of the adorable golden retriever, Binx’s owners said: “When you meet Binx, you can’t help but fall in love with him.

“He has an infectious smile who always makes heads turn on our walks, which he loves as people always want to stop for a pet.

“He loves the attention, not just from people may I add. Binx lives on a farm and has a great relationship with our cows and calves.

“He likes to give them a wee lick and vice versa. He’s a special boy!”

Representing County Down is football loving Seamus from Newry… who if he was called up to play at county level would have a hard time choosing his side.

Said Seamus’ owners: “Despite his small size, Seamus has big dreams particularly when it comes to football.

“He’s an avid player with footwork that would make Messi jealous and the agility of a seasoned midfielder.

“Whether it’s dribbling a mini football around the garden or intercepting passes with laser focus, Seamus is ready to be called up for Down or Armagh (we live in Newry, so naturally, he’s keeping his options open!)

“When he’s not perfecting his pitch skills, he’s charming everyone he meets. With a bounce in his step and a twinkle in his eye, he’s always ready to make a new friend whether human or canine.”

Now in its 12th year – dogs, cats and a goat have captured the hearts of the public with their stories, charm, and cuteness.

Each finalist will now don their official County Nose Sash and re-enter the competition with a new photo and updated entry.

Finalists will have until July 20, to submit their updated entry before the final public voting stage opens on July 24.

The 2025 Nose of Tralee winner will be crowned on August 19, following a nationwide vote to determine who will take home the title.

The winner will receive a hotel stay, a photo shoot, pet sitting vouchers and a range of gifts from small Irish Pet Brands.
