Two arrests after staff threatened and money stolen during Armagh shop robberies

The incidents happened at Killylea Road and Lower Irish Street on Monday morning

Police investigating the reports of two robberies in the Armagh area on Monday morning have arrested four people.

It was reported to police at around 11.30am that a man entered commercial premises on the Killylea Road and threatened staff inside and demanded money.

He made off from the scene in a blue vehicle.

Police received a further report at around 11.50pm that a man had entered commercial premises on Lower Irish Street and demanded money before making off with a sum of cash in a blue vehicle.

A short time later police stopped a Blue Seat Leon in the Armagh area and arrested two men aged 29 and 25 and two women aged 27 and 38 on suspicion of a number of offences.

An eye-witness told Armagh I that armed police swoop on the car at the Go Filling Station on the Portadown Road.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing and police would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to these incidents to contact 101 quoting reference number 699 of 27/02/23.
