
Tributes have been paid to a “compassionate”, “caring” and “amazing” Moy doctor following her passing on Thursday (March 13).
Dr Aine McShane had been a General Practitioner with county Tyrone’s Moy Health Centre – where she was not only an esteemed colleague but a “beloved friend”.
In her time protecting and health and welfare of those in her community Dr McShane gained the trust and admiration of hundreds of patients.
In learning of her passing, her patients have spoken of her unwavering dedication, her kindness, care and compassion adding that she “always had time to listen”.
For her empathy, she was regarded as an exceptional and outstanding family doctor who “touched many lives in such a positive way”.
In sharing their condolences, one of Dr McShane’s former patients, said: “Such a lovely lady and consummate professional.
“Every interaction I had with Dr McShane always had patient care at the centre of everything.
“Her loss will be felt within the Moy community and further afield. My sincerest sympathies to her family and friends, and all the staff at Moy Health Centre.”
A former colleague added: “Such sad news. I worked with Aine years ago at the Health Centre.
“She was a beautiful person, so kind and such an exceptional doctor who cared deeply about her patients. Deepest sympathy to all her family, friends and work colleagues.”
Informing the community of their loss, her former workplace, Moy Health Centre said: “It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved friend and colleague Dr Aine McShane.
“Aine passed away this morning surrounded by her loving family at home.”
A death notice described Dr McShane as the beloved wife of Tony Duffy and cherished mother of Aideen and Oonagh, treasured sister of Francis, Anthony and Eithne and daughter-in-law of Patricia.
Áine will repose at home, 33 Killyneill Roadd, BT71 6LL where all are welcome to come pay their respects on Friday from 12 noon until 10pm and on Saturday until removal at 1:15pm for 2pm Requiem Mass in St. Patrick’s Church followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium Co. Cavan.
