Tributes paid to a ‘real gentleman who will be missed by a lot of people’

Tributes have been paid to a “wonderful” Hamiltonsbawn man who passed away suddenly on Thursday.

David Jenkins, who was in his 50s, was a prominent figure in the wider Armagh district and his untimely death has left a community in mourning.

He was the loving partner of Denise, and beloved son of the late Billy and Shirley and dear nephew of Lily.

David, as recently as April had helped deliver PPE gear to Hamilton Court Care home.

He was also instrumental in the fundraising efforts for the installation of a defibrillator at Orangefield, thanks to his running efforts in 2017.

David was a member of the Orange Order and today, Armagh District LOL No.5 paid tribute on social media.

“It is with great sadness and deep regret that we have learned of the untimely passing of our Very Highly Esteemed Brother David Jenkins of LOL 347,” they said.

“Davy was a regular, loyal and active member in Armagh District and will be sorely missed by all.

“Our Deepest Sympathy, our thoughts and our prayers go out to Denise and family at this very difficult time.

“The Day Thou Gavest Lord Is Ended”

Ballinahonemore District and Community Association, with whom David was also a member, added their own tribute.

“Everyone who knew Davy held him in high regard, and he will be truly missed by all,” they said.

“Sincerest sympathies, thoughts and prayers to Denise and family at this very sad time.”

Comments of condolences and tributes came flooding in for the popular Armagh man.

One woman commented: “Such sad news. A lovely guy and a true gentleman, he will be missed. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends.”

Another added: “Davy was a wonderful man.”

Others spoke of their shock and how they were chatting to him just days ago.

He was also described as a “great guy” and a “real gentleman will be missed by a lot of people”.
