Tributes have been paid following the sudden death of a popular Armagh man sportsman.
Derek Calvin tragically passed away on November 18 at home in the Killuney Drive area of the city.
He was the beloved husband of Sharon and dearly loved father of Hannah.
Derek was a keen sportsman. For many years he a player within Armagh Hockey, where his daughter Hannah is now also a valued member.
Sharing their condolences, the club said: “Armagh Hockey Club would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Calvin family after the sad passing of former men’s player, Derek Calvin today.
“We also would like to extend our condolences to Derek’s daughter, Hannah. Hannah is a current player in the ladies’ section and has been a vital member of our club for many years.
“Sending our thoughts and prayers to you, Hannah and your family at this time of loss.”
He was also often spotted traversing the greens at County Armagh Golf Course as a treasured member and cherished friend.
Sharing their condolences, one person said: “Deepest sympathy to Charlie and family at this sad time many great days playing golf with Derek on fairways of Armagh golf club.”
Another added: “Dear, dear. So sorry to see this. Some great times with Derek, when we were kids growing up in the Folly. Thoughts and prayers with the entire family circle at this difficult time.”
A death notice described Derek as the beloved husband of Sharon, dearly loved father of Hannah, cherished son of Charles and the late Freda, dear brother of Elaine, Sharon and the late Nigel.
His Funeral service is due to take place on Thursday November 20, at 12noon to St Marks Parish Church for service followed by interment in the adjoining Churchyard.
