Traffic arrangements ahead of county Armagh St Patrick’s Day celebrations

Some traffic disruption should be expected on Tuesday (March 17) while St Patrick’s parades get underway across the county.

In Armagh, participants in the 1st Armagh Scout Group parade will gather at 10am and following the route along: Lower Irish Street – Ogle Street – Thomas Street – Market Street – Upper English Street – Shambles – Cathedral Road.

The return parade will begin at the Cathedral at 12.15pm and travel: St Patricks Cathedral – Cathedral Road – Shambles – Railway Street – Longsdale Road – Scout Hut.

The St Patrick’s Day parade – organised by the St Patricks Day Celebrations Community – will also see participants assemble at Christian Brothers School car park at 1.15pm for a 2pm start.

The parade will then work its way along its normal route of Irish Street before turning right at Ogle Street and through the city centre.

It will finish up at Sherry’s Field Recreation Centre.

The Cormeen Rising Sons of William parade begins at around 7pm and will travel along the following route: Mall East – Gaol Square – Barrack Street – Scotch Street – Market Street – College Street – Mall East.

In Lurgan participants will gather at 10.30am and parade the following route: Clan Na Gael GAA – Francis Street – Edward Street – Church Place – North Street – Wellington Street – Castle Lane – Market Street – into road closure. Diversions will be signposted.
