‘The Final Swing’ for Harry: Concluding event hopes to add to £24,000 raised in memory of avid Armagh golfer

After four successful years and raising over £24,000 for charity, this year will see the final Harry’s Day event held in Armagh.

Held in memory of Harry ‘The Legend’ McGeough, Harry’s Day has been held every year since his passing – aged 75 – on September 15, 2020.

The avid golfer and keen sportsman passed away just two days after contracting Covid-19, having battled cancer for seven years.

In recognition of the care he received at Craigavon Area Hospital, and in memory of his life, Harry’s wife Brenda set up ‘Harry’s Day’, which had become an annual event.

The 2025 fundraiser – to be held on Friday September 26 – will be the fifth and final event and has been appropriately titled, ‘The Final Swing’.

Interested parties can take part in a 4 Ball round of golf at Armagh County Golf Club with entry priced at £160 including evening meal.

All proceeds will be in aid of Dementia NI and The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and the event’s main sponsors have been named as Hugh and Cindy Duggan.

Prizes include £250 worth of golf clothing for the overall winner and a team prize of a four ball and €100 bar tab at the Slieve Russell Co. Cavan.

In the last five years, Brenda says they have raised over £24,000 for various charities and is hopeful that the final event will heavily contribute to that pot.

Interested parties should contact Brenda via telephone on 07525639263 or Kevin on 07561866935.
