One of Armagh’s hottest new restaurants has exploded onto the scene and its owner is putting its early success down to the quality of the food on offer in the authentic Indian eatery.
Alamgir Hussain has been overwhelmed by the reaction to his new Indian restaurant ‘Spice Lounge’, which set up shop in The Shambles – on Lower English Street – just last month.

“It has been crazy busy, but people are loving the food,” said Alamgir.
“The reaction to the opening has been brilliant and now we have a lot of new customers coming in simply through of word of mouth.
“They are telling me how great the food is and for me that has made this whole thing all worthwhile.”
Alamgir says the takeaway element of the business is something he now wants to push.
With the restaurant flourishing, Alamgir believes his quality food could reach more homes across the city.
“We have really focused on the dining experience when we first opened but now we want to get our food in more homes across Armagh,” he said.
“Our food is freshly prepared on site every day, in a kitchen surrounded by fantastic staff who love what they do.
“Now, we just want to share this with as many people as possible.”
Alamgir is offering up a 10% discount for pensioners as a thank-you.
“I just think it is important to respect our elders who have worked hard all their lives. It’s a way of giving a little bit back to them.
“If you’re one of those people, don’t be afraid to claim that discount.”
