Serious three-car collision causing long delays on Gosford Road

9.45AM UPDATE: The Gosford Road at Loughgilly, Armagh is now clear and fully re-opened.

Emergency services are currently dealing with a serious multi-vehicle collision on the Gosford Road outside Armagh.

The collision, understood to have involved three vehicles, happened close to the Bolton Road junction shortly after 8am.

As a result, there are long delays on the road with traffic travelling towards Armagh obstructed.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area but there are no indications at this early stage whether both sides of the main A28 will be closed.

An eye-witness, who arrived on the scene shortly after the incident, described it as a “serious” crash.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Motorists are advised of a road traffic collision on the Gosford Road at Loughgilly, Armagh, in the vicinity of the Bolton Filling Station.

“There are long tailbacks in the area and drivers are advised to use an alternative route, if possible.“

There are no further details at this stage but this story will be updated as and when information becomes available.
