Armagh GAA has issued a warning over a counterfeit Sam Maguire trophy going to venues around the county.
Team representatives from the recently-crowned All-Ireland champions have been travelling around the county with the official Sam Maguire.
However, Armagh County Board have issued a warning over a fake trophy being used in exchange for “substantial amounts of money”.
“Armagh GAA have been made aware of a counterfeit Sam Maguire trophy being taken around a number of pubs, event venues and schools in exchange for substantial amounts of money,” a statement, released on Tuesday afternoon, read.
“Armagh GAA have clearly established guidelines and methods for requesting the use/appearance of the Sam Maguire and will never charge for this.”
Armagh won the trophy for the second time in their history on July 28, beating Galway by a single point in the Croke Park decider.
Since then, the trophy has been displayed proudly at GAA clubs, players’ wedding and various schools arounf the county.
