Quizzers at Co Armagh golf club makes WAVES for Troubles and conflict-related charity

The evening raised an incredible £2,600 for the charity, helping them to further the vital work they do right here in the city

A charity working to support those living with injuries or trauma as a result of the Troubles or conflict in Northern Ireland hosted its annual quiz fundraising night in Armagh.

WAVE Trauma Centre – which has a branch on Abbey Street, Armagh – is the largest cross community victims’ group in Northern Ireland, with five centres and 15 satellite projects, spread across the country.

The organisation was formed relatively late in the Troubles in response to specific need. Whilst initially concerned with the bereaved, in 1995 the remit was expanded to include those who were injured and/or traumatised in the Troubles/Conflict in Northern Ireland.

On October 9, the charity held its annual quiz night at County Armagh Golf Club.

Over 100 quizzers put their thinking caps on and battled it out for the winning trophies during an evening of laughs, raffles and friendly competition.

The evening raised an incredible £2,600 for the charity, helping them to further the vital work they do right here in the city.

Said a spokesperson for WAVE: “A massive thank you to everyone who came along to support the event and help make the night such a huge success. Special thanks also to the local businesses and sponsors who generously donated to the raffle.

“Your kindness and generosity raised a staggering £2,600 for the Wave Trauma Centre Armagh on the night; enabling us to continue our work supporting victims affected by the Troubles/Conflict in Northern Ireland.”
