PSNI and Garda step up patrols to tackle increase in local burglaries

Policing patrols have been increased in south Armagh following an increased number of burglaries.

The PSNI in Newry and Mourne say they have been addressing burglary with the help of colleagues in An Garda Siochana. Police-generic

The police offered reassurance to the public that they are working to reduce the number of incidents and keep people safe from this type of crime.

They took to Facebook to confirm the increase in security.

“Following a number of burglaries in the border area police on both sides of the border have stepped up patrols and have been working together to prevent, detect and deter criminality,” they report.

There has been a very marked increase in burglaries with creeper style burglaries becoming a frequent occurrence.

Just last week a church in Jonesborough was also targeted when the culprits smashed a stained glass window and helped themselves to donations in the collection box.
