A landmark Blackwatertown restaurant’s owners bid a fond farewell to customers as they announce the premises has officially changed hands.
The Portmor bar and restaurant, on Main Street, was announced for sale in April 2024 just weeks after the passing of its owner, Nigel Reah.
Since then it has remained on the market as a going concern.
And, yesterday (July 31) the owners announced their departure from their beloved business as they proudly hand over their legacy to a fresh set of hands.
Said the Portmor team in a word of thanks: “To all our cherished customers, dedicated staff, and dear friends of The Portmor,
“After 14 incredible years of working in the Blackwatertown community, the time has come for us to hand over the reins to new owners.
“Throughout this journey, we have met wonderful people, formed lifelong friendships, and created memories that we will treasure forever.
“We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering support from our customers over these years.
“Being part of this vibrant community has been a privilege. We’ve shared in your family celebrations, from Christenings to Communions, Confirmations, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Graduations, Weddings, and everything in between.
“To our staff, both past and present, we owe you an immense debt of gratitude for your tireless dedication and hard work.
“You have been the backbone of our business, and we appreciate every one of you who have been a part of our amazing team and shared in our Portmor adventure.”
The establishment will continue to operate under its current ownership until Sunday August 17.
Those with valid vouchers are asked to make contact to arrange a booking.
It’s anticipated the restaurant will reopen with a “fresh new look and an exciting new menu” in September, with a definitive date to be announced.
