Popular Armagh-based chip shop announces changes at newest site

However, the takeaway's Killylea Road site will remain operational

A popular Armagh-based fish and chip shop has announced the imminent closure of its newest site.

Cordelia’s Fish and Chip Shop made the announcement on social media today (May 18) that they will be closing their Newry Road branch with immediate effect- with their original premises on the Killylea Road remaining operational.

Owner, Cordelia Malone said: “It is with a heavy heart that I have to write this but being in this industry for 40 years and let’s face it we aren’t getting any younger with a heavy work load and family commitments Cordelia’s Fish and Chip Shop will no longer be trading on the Newry Road.

“Cordelia’s Killylea Road will remain opened.

“Apologies for any inconvenience caused and a huge thank you to every single staff member that has crossed our door and customers we will miss every single one of you!

“Lots of love from Cordelia Malone.”

A disheartened customer commented: “Sad day, so handy for my work! A fantastic business but so understand.”

Another added: “Well that is sad news but it’s hard times keeping two businesses going. The very best of luck.”

A spokesperson for Cordelia’s has since explained the business will be operating in the same location under a different name.
