
A police officer, previously stationed in the Newry and Armagh areas, has been charged with attempting to obtain sexual services from a person in return for payment.
The case of Shane Joseph McDonald, with an address as PSNI headquarters at Knock Road Belfast, was opened in court on Monday
The 40-year-old PSNI sergeant has been charged that on “the 18th day of October 2022 attempted to obtain sexual services from a person in exchange for payment made”.
There were no details surrounding the allegation relayed in court, however, according to the Belfast Telegraph, the Public Prosecution Service summonsed the officer, previously stationed in the Newry and Armagh area, to court following a file sent by the PSNI.
He is currently suspended from his post pending the outcome of the case.
The case was adjourned until February 24.
