Police forced to close Markethill Road at Collone due to ‘adverse weather’

Police road closed accident

The Markethill Road has been closed at Collone, police have said.

With an amber weather warning in place and blizzard-like conditions, driving is hazardous.

Snow has been forecast until the early hours.

The PSNI says that the Markethill Road at Collone is now impassable and is closed due to adverse weather conditions.

“Please avoid the area,” said a spokesperson.

Traffic is reportedly slow moving on the M1.

One local told Armagh I this evening: “The M1 from Belfast to Lisburn is absolutely appalling. There’s no tracks, there’s no salter, no snow plow.

“It neaer killed me multiple times. Going at 10mph is disgrace at this day and age.”

Elsewhere, there are reports of trees having been felled.

One local contacted us to report a tree down on the Battleford Road, close to Armagh, with one side of the road completely blocked. There are also reports of a tree down at Dromore.
