Plans have been submitted for the further extension of Cormeen Community Hall to allow for the expansion of their existing services.
The community hall – based on the Tullycallidy Road – currently comprises a multi-function hall, kitchen and meeting room, servery, toilets and an additional “band practice room/meeting room” with storage space on the first floor.
Back in 2021, Cormeen Social and Economic Regeneration Partnership Ltd – the community group that currently own the premises – received a funding injection of close to £200,000 for their community hall renovation project.
At a final cost of over £265,000, the project saw an extension to their existing hall and the redevelopment of their car park.
Supporting all age groups in Cormeen, the hub helps combat rural isolation and provide a range of leisure and recreational services within the community.

Fresh plans – submitted in the name of Mr Mark Gibson on behalf of Cormeen Social and Economic Regeneration Partnership Ltd – now seek permission to further extend their service provision by replacing the existing band practice room with a lobby, stairwell, showers and lift and to further extend for the provision of a changing room and music room.
If approved – above the proposed music room the new lift and stairwell would lead to a new hallway and gymnasium on the first floor of the two-storey extension.
The plans also include associated external works and service connections.
The extension would be built into a currently vacant area in the car park area spanning some 0.21 hectares. The application stipulates that no parking spaces would be lost as a result of the development.
The application will be advertised shortly.
