Middletown man devastated after fishing gear worth over £2,000 stolen overnight

Fly fishing rods, reels and flies stolen from shed at rear of family home

A Middletown man has been left devastated after callous thieves stole his prize fishing gear in a cruel overnight raid.

The thieves swooped on a shed at the rear of the family home some time between 10.30pm last night (Friday) and 8.30am this morning.

And they made off with over £2,000 worth of fishing gear.

Their haul included fly fishing rods, reels and flies.

The man does not wish to be named but is desperate to have his property back.

His daughter asked Armagh I readers who may be able to help to come forward.

She said: “All of the items are identifiable and there is a reward for anyone with information leading to the safe return of the property.

All of the fishing rods are in rod tubes, red, brown, maroon and black in colour. The flies are in four clear boxes, all A4 in size, and the reels are all in green reel bag.”

The burglary has been reported to police.

Anyone who has any information on the incident – or who may know where the stolen property is now or is offered similar items for sale in suspicious circumstances – can contact the PSNI on the non-emergency number 101.
