Marathon walk and run to raise money for life-saving defibrillator at Armagh estate

Runners will stop at every Orange Hall in Armagh District

Preparations are well underway for a fundraising walk and marathon to raise money for a defibrillator at the Orangefield estate in Armagh.

The life-saving piece of equipment will be located at the Today Local shop in Orangefield and will be available for use in an emergency for neighbouring estates.

The Ballinahonemore District and Community Association is organising the fundraiser.

And to help them on their way Deputy Lord Mayor Sam Nicholson has handed over a cheque towards the cost of the defibrillator.

David Jenkins and Geoff Boyce will run a marathon which takes in every Orange Hall in the Armagh District.

It will begin at the Clarke Memorial Hall, at the entrance to the Orangefield estate, at 7.30am on Saturday, September 9.

Individual relay teams will also take part between the various Orange Halls which will take in Killeen, Killycopple, Lisnadill, Tassagh, Aghavilly, Milford, Allistragh and the Orange Hall at Mall East, before making their back to the starting point where a barbecue and children’s entertainment are planned between 6pm and 8pm, followed by a beetle drive.

Donations can be made on the day and through a JustGiving page, which can be accessed through the Ballinahonemore District and Community Association’s Facebook page.

Good luck to all involved!
