A Portadown man who stole more than £5,000 worth of cash and goods from his employer must wait until next month to learn his fate.

Court heard that the offence took place between September 1 and November 10, 2018, whilst the 26-year-old was employed with Discount Commodity Supplies.

Adam Kidd, of Ballybay View, pleaded guilty to theft by employee at Armagh Magistrates’, sitting at Newry, on Tuesday via videolink from his solicitor’s office.

As the charges were read, it was heard that on dates between September 1 and November 10, 2018, the defendant stole goods and cash to the value of £5,222.57 from his employer, Discount Commodity Supplies.

Defence solicitor Conor Downey commented that the amount was queried, specifically on one invoice to the value of £685.44.

He stated: “I can liaise with the prosecution on that but in the meantime it is a breach of trust case in which a pre-sentence report will probably be required.”

District Judge Eamonn King adjourned the case until October 20 for sentencing.
