Man stabbed in back during late night altercation in Armagh city

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for information and witnesses

A man was stabbed in his arm and back during an incident in the Shambles area of Armagh on Saturday night.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for information and witnesses.

A report was received at approximately 10.40pm of an altercation involving a number of people in the Lower English Street area, during which a man in his 20s had been injured, sustaining puncture wounds to his arm and his back.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Police set up a cordon as investigations began into the late night incident.

The area was busy at the time with people coming and going from local bars and restaurants which had reopened for normal trading.

Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw what happened.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing, and police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 2283 of 29/05/21.
