A man carrying a toy gun caused huge traffic congestion and widespread panic in Armagh yesterday (Wednesday).
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of disorderly behaviour and obstruction of a highway following an incident that occurred on the Portadown Road, Armagh.
Just after 4.35pm on Wednesday, 23 March, police received reports of a man walking on the road who appeared to pull out a suspected firearm.
Police attended and closed the road to traffic. The man was arrested a short time later but had thrown the suspected firearm into undergrowth in the area.
The object has since been found by police and has been declared to be a toy gun.
The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
