Man brutally bludgeoned with hammers as police search for assailants in Milford and Armagh

A man was brutally beaten with hammers in an Armagh house during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The horrific incident occurred in the Ardmore Heights area of the city in what has been described by police as an aggravated burglary.

A report was received, at around 2am, that two men had entered a house in the area and assaulted a male occupant who required hospital treatment as a result.

The men were reported to have left the scene in a white coloured car following the incident.

On Sunday evening, searches were carried out at properties in William Street, Milford and Banbrook Hill in Armagh as part of police investigations into the incident in Ardmore Heights.

A police spokesperson said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives would ask anyone with any information to contact them at Lurgan on 101 quoting reference number 299 16/05/21.
