Man attempts to steal vehicles from Armagh city car sales forecourt

An Armagh car sales has hit out after a man attempted to steal a car from their forecourt.

Fleetwise Vehicle Hire and Sales shared CCTV footage on social media which depicts a male attempting to access the vehicle on Sunday (December 1).

The driver of a vehicle appears to approach a number of vehicles and checks the door handles, before getting into a car, which he is then unable to drive.

The Facebook post on Fleetwise Vehicle Hire and Sales reads: “Christmas can be a tough time for everyone, especially these characters who visited our premises after hours. With great deals & keen finance packages available, no stealing is necessary.”

A spokesperson for the PSNI said police received reports of suspicious activity on the Monaghan Road on the date in question.

They said: “At around 8:20pm, it was reported that a silver coloured Lexus car approached a premises and the driver got out of the vehicle and approached a number of vehicles located in the area.

“It was reported the male attempted to check the door handles of the vehicles and managed to get into a white coloured Mercedes vehicle.

“He was unable to drive the vehicle, so exited the vehicle and made off from the scene in the Lexus car heading towards the Milford area.”

The spokesperson added: “Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident, to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 32 02/12/24.
