Man arrested in Armagh in connection with Ballymena murder

A man has been arrested in Armagh today (Thursday) in connection with the murder of Victor Hamilton in Ballymena yesterday.

Police said the 29-year-old was arrested by Major Investigation Team detectives just after 11.30am in the Spring Meadows area of the city.

He is currently being questioned in the Serious Crime suite at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast.

Mr Hamilton (63) was found dead in the driveway of his house on Orkney Drive at around 7.50am on Wednesday.

There was a heavy police presence in the Armagh housing development today at the time of the arrest.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness said: “While our investigation is ongoing, I would still urge to anyone with information or anyone who was in the Orkney Drive area of Ballymena on Tuesday night, 26th July into the early hours of Wednesday morning 27th July to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 273 of 27/07/22.”
