A man arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Armagh City has been released on bail.
The 40-year-old was hauled into police custody following an incident in the East Chinese on Railway Street on Sunday evening.
It was reported that two staff members and a delivery driver were confronted by the knife-wielding man just before 7pm.
When his demand to open the till was refused, he subsequently ran off empty-handed in the direction of the Moy Road.
The 40-year-old was arrested a short time later.
A PSNI spokesperson told Armagh I: “A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery on Sunday has been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
Kevin Ho, who own the Chinese, posted on their social media following the incident to say how staff were doing.
“Just a little note to let everyone know we are all okay. We had an incident in our restaurant where a guy made an attempted robbery but thankfully no one was hurt.
“The police are dealing with it now so hopefully it will be all sorted soon. We’ll be back on Thursday evening so take care and stay safe.”
