A man – armed with a number of knives – was arrested in an Armagh takeaway this evening.
Police say they have made an arrest following a report of a man entering the fast food premises in the Barrack Street area of the city on Tuesday, October 29.
He was armed with a number of knives.
A police spokesperson said: “A man has been taken into custody, where he remains at this time.
“Police remain at the scene this evening, conducting enquiries. An update will be provided in due course.”
The incident has caused some alarm in the area, with staff left understandably shaken by the ordeal.
It is understood there was a standoff between the suspect and police before the arrest was made.
