Man armed with hatchet attempts early morning break-in at house in Armagh

A man armed with a hatchet attempted to break into a house in Armagh early this morning.

Police in Armagh are investigating the report of what was an attempted burglary at a house in Daires Willows, just off the Cathedral Road around 7am this on Thursday.

It is believed that a man entered a shed at the property at around 7am, and took a hatchet, which he then used to attempt to force entry to a window of the house.

At this time the occupant of the house noticed the male and gave chase to him as he made off on foot in the direction of Cathedral Road.

The man was described as being around 6” tall and was wearing a grey Adidas top and bottoms and Adidas training shoes.

Police inquiries are ongoing and officers would ask anyone with any information about the incident to contact them at Armagh on 101 quoting reference number 196 21/03/19.
