A major new housing development is being planned on the edge of Armagh city.
The development – understood to cost in the region of £1.6 million – has been earmarked in the Umgola area.
It will consist of a total of 19 new homes.
These will be a mix of property types – 14 semi-detached and five detached.
An application for full planning permission has been made to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration.
The applicant is Riverglade Developments Ltd.
They aim to construct the development on what is described currently as agricultural land.
The exact site is given as “adjacent to and north of No 9 Umgola Road, Drumarg or Downs” to lands “adjacent to and South-West of No 3 Umgola Road”.
The developer has also indicated that the intention is to include a landscaping scheme as part of the new housing plans.
Associated site works form part of the proposals too.
The application is due to be advertised this week when the public will have the chance to express their views.
A decision will follow in due course after careful consideration by council planning officials.
