Lorry used in Caledon digger theft was also taken locally on same night

It is understood that a stolen lorry used in the theft of a digger from the grounds of Caledon Estate last weekend was also taken locally on the same evening.

The yellow, flatbed Scania lorry in question – with the registration SK61 HMU – was used to steal and transport a 13 tonne Hitachi digger belonging to Caledon Estates Company in the early hours of Saturday, May 31.

Armagh I understand the lorry had only been purchased by its current owner within the last fortnight and it had been receiving mechanical work at a property in the Crosskeys area of Armagh when it was stolen. As such, the owner was only made aware of its disappearance on June 3, when it was then reported to police.

The stolen lorry is believed to have been taken from the mechanic’s yard sometime between 11pm and midnight on May 30, before making its way to Caledon to be used in the theft of the digger.

It is believed the lorry travelled along the Drumhillery Road in the direction of Derrynoose at approximately 2am.

Police have confirmed that they are investigating a potential link between the theft of a digger Annaghroe Road area of Caledon and the theft of a lorry from the Crosskeys Road area of Keady.
