A special commemorative event will take place in Armagh next month to mark 100 years since the birth of Dr Ian R K Paisley.
The Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Stephen Moutray, will host the evening on Wednesday, April 1 at 8pm in The Archbishop’s Palace, Armagh.
The event will bring together members of the Paisley family for a reflective conversation about their father’s life and legacy in the city of his birth.
Journalist and broadcaster Mark Devenport will host the discussion, which will feature Ian Paisley Jr, Sharon Huddleson and Rev Kyle Paisley. Together they will share personal memories, stories and reflections on their father’s faith, political career and family life.
Those attending will have the opportunity to hear first‑hand perspectives on the milestones, challenges and defining moments that shaped Dr Paisley’s life.
Inviting the public to attend, Lord Mayor Alderman Stephen Moutray said: “As we approach 100 years since the birth of Dr Ian R K Paisley, this anniversary gives us the opportunity to reflect on the impact he had on political, religious and public life. It is a real privilege to welcome members of the Paisley family to Armagh – their father’s birthplace – for an evening that promises to be both informative and thought-provoking, and all in aid of two local charities.”
Tickets are priced at £20, with proceeds being split between The Lord Bannside Foundation and the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity, Evora Hospice Care.
