A new development of log cabins could be built close to Armagh city centre.

Outline planning permission is being sought at this stage which, if approved, would then lead to the submission of a full application and more details on the proposals.

The outline application has been lodged in the name of Patrick McElmeel, from Armagh.

It is for the construction of three individual enclosed log cabins.

The site in question is described as agricultural land at present, not far from McElmeel Mobility Services on the Ballyscandal Road.

The log cabins are being proposed to provide “self-catering tourism accommodation” for visitors to the area.

The application has been submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.

Neighbour notification has taken place and the statutory bodies will be consulted with.

The application is due to be advertised next week and a decision made in due course.
