Local children Annie and Dara make Armagh fundraiser’s day by donating pocket money to cause

'Children helping children,' said Willie. 'That really made my day'

Two little children have made the day of Armagh’s champion fundraiser by donating their pocket money to his latest charity cycle.

Little Annie Rush and Dara McParland – from Armagh – met up with Willie Nugent to hand over their hard-earned £10 notes.

In raising over £1 million for charity throughout his lifetime, Willie has gratefully received countless cash donations but of Annie and Dara’s contributions, he said “none could be any more special”.

“Children helping children,” said Willie. “That really made my day”.

On Wednesday June 10, Willie will be cycling 30 miles from Armagh to St Patrick’s Chair in Co Tyrone to raise money for UNICEF to help the children of Ukraine and Gaza.

“Every three-year-old has known nothing but war, the intensity of war means families have still to flee their homes and look for safer places” said Willie. “However constant long range attacks across the country means no child is safe”.

So far Willie’s JustGiving page has raised over £3000 and continues to climb thanks to donations like Annie and Dara’s.

Known to rarely be seen without his four-legged companion Maisie by his side, Willie added: “When l take my dog Maisie out for a walk people stop us to give a donation, I really appreciate it.

“Whether you cycle 30 mile or 300 miles, if people don’t support you what’s the point? Completing the challenge will be a really good feeling because you know you’ve done something for a worthy cause”.

If you’d like to support Willie you can send a donation through his JustGiving page here.
