A man has been arrested following a large scale police operation on the outskirts of Armagh City on Wednesday night.
Approximately six or seven police Landrovers, along with police sniffer dogs, descended on the scene on the main Armagh to Portadown Road.
Commenting DUP Assembly member William Irwin MLA said: “I understand that a male at the centre of this operation has now been apprehended and is being detained by the PSNI. The road has now been reopened to traffic and I thank the PSNI for their swift action in dealing with this incident.”
The police operation caused major rush hour traffic congestion.
The main dual carriageway to Portadown had been shut to traffic on the outbound lane.
