More than 1,000 runners – young and old – braved the elements for the 2024 Armagh International Road Races on Thursday night.

The main event, which is always a competitive international affair, saw Finland’s Topi Raitanen – the current European 3,000m steeplechase champion – take ‘top’ spot on the podium with a time of 13.49. James Young and Alfie Manthorpe, who were both two seconds behind finishing in, taking second and third.

While it was a Finn topping the podium, it was their Scandinavian neighbours, Sweden, taking the team title with their top three runners placing fourth, fifth and 12th respectively. Finland were second and Scotland third. You can check out the full set of results from the main event here.

Sale Harriers’ Megan Davies won the women’s 3,000m race with a time of 9:19.

Armagh’s Fionnuala Ross was the first Irishwoman over the line in ninth spot as she clocked 9:27
