In Pictures: Clady school children host first Pumpkin Patch

There was plenty of autumn magic in Clady this week as pupils from St Michael’s Primary School, Clady hosted their very own Pumpkin Patch for local children.

Planned and organised by the school’s P1/2 and P6/7 children and class teams, the event transformed the outdoor space of neighbouring Clady Tiny Tots into a seasonal celebration filled with colour and community spirit.

The Pumpkin Patch featured a photo station, chocolate apples with marshmallows, potato painting and stamping, a trick-or treat station and a Halloween-themed dance floor. The area was decorated with pumpkins, the children’s Halloween artwork, and bales of hay donated by local farms.

Children from Clady Tiny Tots were first to visit, welcomed and guided by their older hosts, who made sure the “tiny tots” had enjoyed their morning marking the end of their first term.

Later in the day, the P1 and P2 pupils joined the fun, with P3–P5 enjoying the experience the following day.

The event is part of the school’s ethos of encouraging older pupils to support and learn alongside the younger children.

Through buddy systems, mentoring, outdoor learning and shared celebrations, St Michael’s Primary School continues to strengthen its role in the community while promoting their values of kindness, inclusivity and community.

“Our children designed and delivered something truly special,” said Mr Johnny Guy, Principal of St Michael’s Primary School.

“We talked beforehand about how they would represent themselves, their families, our school and our community, and how important it was to make sure the little ones had the best time possible,” he said.

“They really rose to the occasion and were fantastic hosts. They’re a credit to the whole school community and to their parents and families. I also want to extend a huge thank-you to the staff of Clady Tiny Tots, who were fully on board from the start and helped plan and organise the event.

“Another huge thank-you to the P1/2 and P6/7 class teams for their hard work and local farmers and businesses for their kind donations. It was a real feel-good morning, and we’re already looking forward to expanding it next year and involving the wider community.”

Event sponsors included Hunter’s in Markethill, Black’s Nursery, Wilson’s SuperValu, Portadown and McCracken’s Spar, Portadown.
