While it may not have been the red hot encounter often associated with Ulster’s biggest rivals, Armagh and Tyrone still played out a Christmas cracker at the Athletic Grounds on Friday night.
Almost 5,000 people turned out to the game which was being played in aid of the James Reel Play Park fundraiser – in memory of the Silverbridge man who died suddenly in April of this year.
Fireworks brought the curtain down on a tremendous family-fun event which saw reigning All-Ireland champions Tyrone edge the hosts by 0-19 to 0-16. The result – under the lights in December – was secondary to the occasion.
