House broken into and destroyed with graffiti and oil in ‘sectarian hate crime’

Vandals poured oil all over the inside of a Co Armagh home in what police are describing as a sectarian hate crime.

The house in Killylea was broken into over the weekend, with graffiti also sprayed all over the walls and furniture.

Police received the report of the burglary on Sunday, June 10.

Inspector Kieran Quinn said: “Entry was gained to a property in a new development in the area around 1.50pm and rooms inside ransacked.

“Graffiti was sprayed on the walls, furniture damaged and oil poured around the house.

“The house was not occupied at the time of the incident which we believe happened sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

“We are currently treating this as a sectarian hate crime. Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 844 of 10/6/18.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
