Girl (10) airlifted to hospital after quad bike collision in Tynan

A 10-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital following a collision with a quad bike in Tynan on Monday evening.

The Air Ambulance – and other emergency services – were despatched to the incident in the Kiltubbrid Road area shortly after 6pm.

The young girl was subsequently taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

A police spokesperson said: “Police received a report on Monday, September 16 at approximately 6.15pm of a collision involving a quad in a field in the Kiltubbrid Road area of Tynan.

“Officers attended, alongside colleagues from other emergency services. A 10-year-old girl was located with injuries caused to her leg.

“She was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to hospital for further medical attention via Air Ambulance NI.”

A spokesperson for the NI Air Ambulance (NIAS) added: “We received a 999 call at 6.06pm on Monday, September 16 following reports of an incident in the Kiltubbrid Road area.

“NIAS despatched one Emergency Ambulance Crew and Rapid Response Paramedic to the incident. The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board was also tasked to attend.

“Following initial assessment and treatment at scene, one patient was taken to Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children by Air Ambulance.”
