First of four tragic young victims killed in Armagh collision named

The first of four young victims killed in an horrific single-vehicle collision in Armagh on Sunday morning has been named.

He was Keith Morrison from Tynan. He was in his early 20’s.

A funeral notice for the young man, from Breaghy Road, described him as the beloved son of Alwyn and Lisa, loving brother of Denise, Georgina, Emily and Melanie, step son of Christine Wright.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced at this stage; house is private until further notice, with all enquires to Dominic Muldoon 07394090720.

Mr Morrison was one of four people travelling in a grey Volkswagen Golf when it collided with a tree on the Ballynahonemore Road at around 2.10am this morning, Sunday, March 24.

The driver and three passengers were declared deceased at the scene.

District Commander Superintendent Paul McGrattan said: “This is an unspeakable tragedy for the families involved, and for the wider community, who will understandably struggle to comprehend such loss of life.

“A thorough and sensitive investigation is now underway and anyone with information that could assist us is asked to get in touch with the Collision Investigation Unit.

Police remain at the scene this evening (Sunday) and the Ballynahonemore Road is still closed.

“The thoughts of the entire Police Service are with the families, friends and loved ones of those who have lost their lives,” added the District Commander.”

First Minister Michelle O’Neill said: “It’s heartbreaking to learn of the tragic loss of five lives in devastating road accidents in Armagh and Newry. My heart goes out to the families, friends, and the local communities affected by these awful tragedies. They are all in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.”

DUP Leader Jeffrey Donaldson, posting on X, added: “Tragic news coming from Armagh.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the four deceased in this devastating incident.”
