Fire service called several times after bins set on fire at Armagh recreation centre

Bins set on fire Sherry's Field in Armagh

Bins have been set on fire on several occasions at an Armagh recreation centre.

Vandals have targeted several bins, including a black plastic bin at Sherry’s Field, off the Cathedral Road.

Sinn Féin representative, John Óg O’Kane has condemned the anti-social behaviour of mindless vandals.

“I was extremely disappointed to learn that bins at Sherry’s field had been set on fire in recent days,” said Mr O’Kane.

“This has resulted in a number of call-outs being made to the Fire Brigade to tackle the fires.

“Sherry’s Field is a hugely popular facility locally, with MUGA pitches, a first class play park and event spaces to host sports clubs and other groups from all backgrounds from across the city.

“I would call on everyone to ensure that this facility is both respected and protected for all in our community.”
